  • Jenu. 1, 2014Establishment of the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), affiliated with KIOST (Daedeok Science Town)
  • July. 1, 2012Republic of Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology (KIOST) was officially launched.
  • Establishment of the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), affiliated with KIOST (Daedeok Science Town)
  • Republic of Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology (KIOST) was officially launched.

2012's~ 2000's

  • Jun. 20, 2008East Sea Research Institute wasestablished at Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do
  • Apr. 16, 2004Republic of Korea Polar Research Institute(KOPRI) was established as an associated research institute within KORDI
  • Apr. 29, 2002Arctic Research Station "Dasan" was established at Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen Island, Norway
  • May 30, 2000Republic of Korea-South Pacific Ocean Research Center was established at Chuuk State, FSM
  • Republic of Korea Polar Research Institute(KOPRI) was established as an associated research institute within KORDI
  • Arctic Research Station

2000's ~ 1990's

  • Mar. 28, 1997South Sea Research Institute was established at Geoje Island
  • May 12, 1995Republic of Korea-China Joint Ocean Research Center was established at Qingdao, China
  • Mar. 20, 1992Commissioning of R/V Onnuri(1,422ton)
  • Mar. 7, 1992Commissioning of R/V Eardo(546ton)
  • Republic of Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology(KIOST) was established at the Republic of Korea Institute of Science & Technology(KIST)
  • Commissioning of R/V Eardo(546ton)

1990's ~ 1973's

  • Jun. 1, 1990KIOST established a permanent research station "King Sejong" at King George Island, Antarctica, and commenced the 1st Korean Antarctic Research Program
